THQ Nordic was planning on reintroducing the world to Alone in the Dark this fall, but an extremely busy gaming release schedule has forced the team's hand. Originally planned to arrive this October, the Alone in the Dark reboot will now land on January 16th, 2024.

The game's new launch period is expected to be much quieter than this fall, especially the month of October which is absolutely jam-packed right now. In fact, the team behind Alone in the Dark hasn't shied away from admitting that this is the primary reason behind the game's delay:

"Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan's epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October."

Of course, Spider-Man 2 might not be Xbox-related, but there are plenty of other releases planned for the platform this October. Being a horror title the team mentions Alan Wake 2, but it'd also have Assassin's Creed Mirage and Lords Of The Fallen to contend with next month, alongside a selection of smaller titles.

Anyway, as things stand Alone in the Dark will be hitting Xbox Series X and S on January 16, which gives us all a bit more time to enjoy this fall's busy lineup on Xbox.
