Midnight Club 3: DUB
Edition Interview (Xbox, PS2, PSP)
There are plenty of good looking titles being released
over the next few months. One of which is Midnight Club
3: DUB Edition. This is a game that I have been looking
forward to for a while after enjoying MCII. This one will
be RELEASED NEXT WEEK (April 12'th). We managed to
get some last minute questions answered by Jay Panek, the
producer of Midnight Club 3.

| This
next version of the Midnight Club series features the
help of DUB. Do you think this game turned out differently
because of this? |
| Absolutely.
The staff at DUB are the most knowledgeable people on
the planet when it comes to the car customization scene.
They know what trends are going to be hot and what’s
on its way out. Not only that, they opened doors for
us with certain vehicle and parts manufacturers. We
couldn’t have nailed the high level of real world customization
detail without help from DUB.
|
| On
average, how long will the Career mode take to complete? |
| Technically,
Career mode never ends because new side races are continually
generated, so you could keep playing, collecting cash,
customizing your vehicles and building your garage forever.
To get to the point where you’ve unlocked every city,
vehicle, customization part and secret in the game,
though, would take at least 40 hours.
|
| Motorcycles
were a nice feature of MC II that set it apart from
the competition. Are there any changes to the motorcycles
this time around? |
| When we
thought of adding motorcycles to Midnight Club II, we
wanted to create an experience that would rival games
that featured bikes. I think we definitely achieved
our goal in creating a white knuckle experience of racing
a street bike through city traffic. We also learned
that the city environment was less forgiving than a
controlled track experience so we’ve put a lot of effort
into the motorcycle racing aspect of Midnight Club 3.
They are still insanely fast, but this time you can
take more of a collision before the rider is ejected
from the bike. There are two types of bikes in Midnight
Club 3 – sport bikes and choppers – and each has a different
feel, advantages and special abilities. Playing the
game with motorcycles gives the player a completely
different racing experience.
|
| What
can we expect for motorcycle customization? |
| We’ve licensed
real-world sport bike part manufacturers, so you can
create an utterly unique sport bike. You’ll also be
able to pimp out a custom built chopper which, judging
from the popularity of custom chopper TV shows, is what
people want to see. Players will visually be able to
change their rims, riders, exhausts material, paint,
neon, license plates and more. On the performance side
they’ll be able to increase acceleration, speed and
get ridiculously fast with a blast of Nitro. No other
game offers this.

| I've
got to say that some of the best times I've had on Xbox
Live is with Midtown Madness in Tag. From what I have
read, the Tag mode in Midnight Club 3 works differently
and uses a point system. Can you go over the details
of Tag? |
| With Tag,
we wanted to prevent people from just hiding out in
the farthest reaches of the cities, so we set it up
so players are rewarded for daring to be close to the
player who’s “it”. How Tag works in Midnight Club 3
is when the race begins a checkpoint will be revealed.
The last one to reach the checkpoint is “it.” All the
non “it” players will then see colored zones on their
mini-maps. These zones show the points that can be scored
as you stay in them. The closer you are to the “it”
player, the more points you score as time passes. And,
of course, if the “it” car hits you, then you are “it”.
The first to reach a preset amount of points wins the
match.

| Are
there plans to have downloadable content in the future? |
| Yes, and
you should be hearing about the exact details of these
plans shortly.
